Summer Solstice is Here

Today, those of us living on the Northern Hemisphere welcome the first day of of summer. Or in more technical terms Summer Solstice. We will experience the longest day and shortest night of the year. I love the sun, therefore I am always excited about having more sunshine.

Around the world there will be celebrations and rituals to welcome the sun while it reaches its northernmost point from the equator.  Traditionally, Litha festivals last all day and people gather around Stonehenge to watch the sun shine through certain points of the structure. Stonehenge is still open to the public for this same tradition each year.

No matter what your spiritual background may be, celebrating the sun and new beginnings is something everyone can enjoy.

If you’re like me, then you do not have the pleasure of spending all day in the sun celebrating, but there are things you can do to celebrate in your own way. My way of celebrating today will be writing a summer bucket list, as well as writing things down that I hope will manifest in these next 6 months before winter.¬†

1. Journal Outdoors

Take time to write whatever your heart desires, also jot down things you want to happen in your life this season. Writing outdoors always gives me different vibe than writing indoors, it’s something about being in the sun that makes me feel more connected.

2. Enjoy nature

Find a woodsy area and go for a hike, meditate in the scenery, watch the sun peek through the trees. Walking in nature always calms me and I feel more balanced.

3. Have a bonfire

Fire symbolizes the warmth and power of the sun. It’s a great way to celebrate this day, especially if you miss out on daylight. If a bonfire isn’t in your reach, light candles, it works just as well.

4. Gather with friends

Celebrate this new season with friends. Share with them your goals for this season, and hold each other accountable.

5. Gather with strangers

Gathering with strangers at an event is always cool, because you have a group of people who don’t know each other, but in that moment your energy and vibes are connected. Everyone will be enjoying sunshine, whether they are aware of summer solstice or not, go enjoy it with them.

Stay tuned for my summer bucket list. I would love to know your plans for today!

Sending you positive sun vibes!
